What to do with a large collection of vases from the 1950s to 1970s?
Known as Fat Lava or West German Art Pottery,
these vases mostly come from Germany – East and West, but also
from Denmark and other countries. They are brightly colored,
and the shapes and glazes are unusual and experimental.
More like sculptures than vases,
they are not ideal as flower vases due to their dominant designs and colors.
However, when combined with handmade lampshades,
covered with original fabrics from the period,
in typical colors and weaves, or with rare,
visually powerful finds from today – the special shapes and colors of these
idiosyncratic and expressive vases make sense.
The result is sculptural lighting fixtures and decorative objects that enhance
any
room and add an individual touch to the decor.
Each lamp is unique,
and the technology, cables, and sockets, are new, high-quality, and tailored
to each one.
The bases and caps on the vase openings are custom-made for each version.
Upon request, we also create lamps from our own vases or other vessels and
are happy to accommodate special requests regarding the design of the
lampshades.
